I moved to Germany in 2022. I brought my taste buds with me. Unfortunately, the supermarkets couldn't quite keep up.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Couldn't find the original. So I made it myself.
My name is Kyle. I grew up in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand—a city renowned for its culture, food, and a way of life difficult to put into words. In 2022, I moved to Germany.
Like most expats, it wasn't the weather that surprised me—it was the food. Every time I visited an Asian shop, the selection was the same: a handful of brands, most produced for export—and none of them tasted like what I knew from home.
Then there were the Thai restaurants. Everyone asked me: "Kyle, where's the best Thai food around here?" Honestly, it's hard to say. Most do some dishes well, others less so. And even in the good restaurants—it's loud, the tables are cramped, and a real conversation is barely possible.
That's when I thought: What if the best Thai experience isn't in a restaurant at all? What if it's at home—with ingredients that truly taste like Thailand, selected by someone who knows what that means?
That's exactly why I founded OMGBOX.
